Australia found the golden color possum to be named "Pikachu"

Recently, according to foreign media The Age report, the Australian Wildlife Rescue Center has hosted a unique possum. Due to its golden color and cute appearance, the official name is “Pikachu” and “Pokémon”. The famous Pikachu in the Dream is the same name.

The possum is a common marsupial mammal in Australia. It has a mild temperament and its fur is usually grayish black. However, Pikachu's black-gray fur turned into a bright gold color due to a mutation in its specific gene.

Pikachu was discovered by the local citizens when it was about five months old, and then sent to the wildlife rescue center. Experts speculated that it might have fallen from the mother's back. The official said that Pikachu is not suitable for returning to the wild, because her bright fur color is easy to become the target of predators.

Although this case is rare in the possum population, Pikachu is not the only gold-colored possum in the region, said Caroline Dazey of the Australian Victorian Wildlife Conservation Organization: "They (golden possum) have a Victorian region. Very small ethnic groups, we try to keep the secret of their gathering place to ensure their safety."
