3 main techniques

1. Perfect - sentence Technique.

   take a book in the foreign language.

   open it at a random page.

   read the first sentence.

   ask the native speaker to rate you on obvious accent, slight accent, no accent.

   let native speaker read this sentence back to you.

   listen carefully and repeat.

   and repeat this process over and over until the native speaker tells you the he can no longer hear an accent.

2. Colloquial Speech

   using verbs and expressions that locals use

3. Cultural Traits

   example:

   1. American bumps his head, his initial reaction might be. "Ouch!"
   2. German gets elbowed in the crowd, he would say,"Ow-ah!"
   3. French person might step on the nail and say, "Ay!"

   These difference require actibe listening
